- Scope
- Depends on the selected action
- What changes
- Clears assignments; does not delete material definitions.
On this page
How to use it
- Select the objects whose paint you intend to clear.
- Choose Remove From Selection for direct assignments. Use its dropdown for Remove From Hierarchy when descendants are intended too.
- Before a hierarchy action, review shared contents: other copies can change. Inspect the result and any skipped items.
Expected result
Remove paint from a cabinet container while keeping directly painted handles. Default faces may reveal paint inherited from a parent.
Controls & options
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Remove From Selection | Clear direct assignments on selected supported faces and containers. Face removal clears front and back. Nested assignments remain. |
| Remove From Hierarchy | Clear supported assignments on selected roots and their descendants, including hidden descendants and both face sides. |
| Full Model Cleanup | Open the separate cleanup for the full model, or the entire active edit context when one is open. |
Behavior and limits
Default faces can still display an inherited parent material after direct paint is removed.
Hierarchy removal does not make shared definitions unique. Changes to their contents can affect other occurrences. Check scope and protected skips in the result.
